The Wilma Story, Pt. 1

I remember being nervous as I swiped my time card at the hospital for the last time as a nurse. The future felt unknown, but deep down I knew my heart was being pulled in a different direction.
I had my personal training license and started working with clients in my small garage gym and at the local recreation center down the street. My little family needed the extra support for healthcare benefits, and this new path felt more flexible with my two kids — I could create my own hours and still be there for them.
After a while, a few of my clients started asking if I could write up what they could do from home on the days between our in-person sessions. Then one day, a good friend suggested,
“Why don’t you just set up a camera and film an at-home workout, and they could do it with you from home?”
That idea sparked something in me.
I remember feeling a little embarrassed to hit record for the first time, but I figured — why not? I had nothing to lose.
To my surprise, my clients loved it.
And an even bigger surprise?
I loved it too.
That next fall and winter, I spent early mornings programming workouts on a big whiteboard nailed to my garage wall. I’d wake up at 4:45 a.m. to turn on the space heaters, get the garage just warm enough, and film a workout at 5:30 — all before my two kids were even awake.
Those quiet mornings became my secret sauce.
And I couldn’t stop thinking… how many other moms or women at home would love to have something like this from me?
That’s when my entrepreneurial journey truly began.
Part Two coming soon…
