The Wilma Story Pt. 3: Break to Build

I was growing ‘Momstrong Move’, and investing almost 100% of what I earned back into the business as we worked to rebrand + build an entirely new app. The story of how we came up with Wilma is a special one, and I’ll share that soon.
But the development team we had hired to deploy our app, was failing. Unknown to us at the time, the devs were incredibly underqualified, had promised us “the world,” and after working with us for over 7 months, the results they delivered were excruciatingly painful. Especially after we had invested almost a year’s worth of my income at the time to complete the project.
Everything broke, including me. The pandemic was in full swing, and I felt like my business was balancing on a broken hinge. My mental health was suffering. I’d wake up at night in a cold sweat with a racing heart, filled with nausea over everything happening. A dream, crumbling before my eyes. I was filled with anger and resentment that would cycle into guilt.
We decided to start completely over. We had lost so much, it was painful. But we hired a new dev team and the rebuilding began.
A year later, we finally released Wilma and have been letting it take flight ever since.
My backyard studio might not seem too significant to anyone else. But for me, it represents more. It’s a place I’ve designed from the ground up and built with the thousands of hours I’ve put in. A room that builds confidence and echoes with dreams. A refuge I have dreamed of. A space I have fought for.

Life has a funny way of teaching us, doesn’t it?
I’ve learned that dreams have wings, but only after being buried, cocooned, dried out, and wind-chapped a bit more. Maybe you’re finding yourself there right now. Just know those soul-stretching moments will uncover something far greater for you.
If you are fighting a battle, silently or out for the world to see… keep hanging on. There is far more beauty to be found in the flight that awaits. There is strength that lives in the comeback. Believe it’s coming your way.
I’m forever grateful I didn’t give up and for the beauty the Wilma community has given me over the years. It’s my mission to send all that love back your way in the app and I feel like we’re just getting started. Your support will never be lost on me + I’m so glad you’re here.
